Unlike Windows 7, Office 14 is getting very little exposure at the moment. Leaked references and rumours aside, Microsoft is keeping tightlipped about plans for a release date. The most telling ‘sighting’ that has been made so far can be found on the Zdnet blog. In summary, references were made to Sharepoint 2009, the implication being that there will be an Office 2009 arriving soon. The reference was made in a Q&A session on the CodePlex site, but unfortunately, all references to Sharepoint 2009 have been removed.

Rumour has it that private builds of Office 14 are being passed around Microsoft’s external customer’s and partners. As usual, the Office development team are not releasing public betas until the feature set is finalised.

One question I’ve been asking myself is whether Microsoft are planning to release Windows 7 and Office 14 together, or separately.
