Microsoft Office 14 Renamed
Posted on 21 April 2009 by officeadmin
Gosh darn, I knew I took a risk when I used off14 for the name of this site. Office 14 – get it? But they’ve only gone and pulled the rug out from under me! Read what Paul Thurrott has to say about Microsoft’s recent renaming of Office 14 to Office 2010. Well, I say renaming, but Office 14 was never really official, was it? It was more a ‘code name’. That link isn’t specifically about this recent development, it’s more a general list of FAQs about Office 14 Office 2010.
Microsoft Office 2010 Release Date
According to Paul:
Microsoft says it will ship the Office 2010 clients (i.e. the end user applications that make up the Office 2010 suite) in “the first half of 2010,” along with other parts of the Office 2010 System, including Office Web Applications, SharePoint Server 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010. However, certain components of the Office 2010 System will ship before then: Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 will ship in “the fourth quarter of 2009,” according to the software giant. Up in the air is the next version of Office Mobile (sometimes called “Pocket Office”) for Windows Mobile though Microsoft has made it clear that the Office 2010 wave will include an update there as well.
The FAQ linked above certainly is a comprehensive read and I recommend it.
